Day of the week wheel
Spin to pick a random day of the week, from Monday to Sunday. It is handy for choosing which night is takeaway night, which day the meeting goes on, or whose turn it is, and it doubles as a simple learning game for children who are still getting the order of the days right.
Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl + Enter.

How to build a random weekly meal plan
List your meals
Write down seven dinners you are happy to cook this week, or use the dinner wheel to pick them.
Turn on remove-the-winner
In Settings, tick “Remove the winner after each spin” so each day is used only once.
Spin once per meal
Read out a meal, spin for its day, and write it on the fridge plan. After seven spins the week is full.
What can I decide with a day of the week wheel?
Anything that needs one day out of seven. The most common uses are household ones: which evening is pizza night, which day the bins or the laundry get done, when to fit in the long run. Offices use it to pick a day for the team lunch when nobody will commit, and friends use it to break the “any day works for me” stalemate.
Whatever you are scheduling, cross out the impossible days before you spin. Open Edit as text and delete them, so you never have to re-spin because the wheel landed on the day of a football match.
Meal planning with a random day
The how-to above turns seven meals into a week in under a minute. It works just as well the other way round: keep the days on this wheel, and let the dinner wheel fill each one. Families who batch-cook often keep only Monday to Friday, since weekends take care of themselves.
Sharing out jobs across the week
For household routines, give each person a day by spinning once per name with remove-the-winner turned on. If you are sharing out the chores themselves, the chore wheel is already set up for it; spin that for the job and this one for the day. Weekends can be weighted less if nobody wants them: turn on Use weights and give Saturday and Sunday a weight of 0.5.
Teaching the days of the week
For early learners, spin a day and ask three questions: what day comes before it, what comes after, and is it a school day? Say the full sequence together from the spun day, wrapping round from Sunday to Monday. Once they have it, spin two days and ask how many days apart they are. A dice roll added on top (“what day is it three days after Thursday?”) makes a good next step.
Older children enjoy the word origins. In English, Sunday and Monday come from the Sun and the Moon, Saturday from the Roman god Saturn, and Tuesday to Friday from Norse and Germanic gods: Tiw, Woden, Thor and Frigg.
Does the week start on Monday or Sunday?
The wheel lists Monday first, following the international standard ISO 8601, which is also the norm across most of Europe. Calendars in the United States, Canada and some other countries show Sunday first. On a wheel it does not matter, because every slice has the same one-in-seven chance; the randomness guide has the details. If you prefer Sunday at the top, use Edit as text to move it.
About this list
The wheel holds the seven days of the week in English, in ISO order from Monday to Sunday. Rename them to another language in the text editor if you are teaching the days in French, Spanish or anything else.
Frequently asked questions
Can I spin for weekdays only?
Yes. Open Edit as text, delete Saturday and Sunday, and close the editor. The wheel then picks between Monday and Friday, each with a one-in-five chance.
How do I plan seven dinners without repeating a day?
Turn on Remove the winner after each spin, then spin once for each meal. Every day can only be picked once, and the results history shows the finished plan to copy.
Why does the wheel start on Monday?
It follows ISO 8601, the international standard that counts Monday as the first day. In the US calendars often start on Sunday. The order has no effect on the odds.
Can I use it to teach the days in another language?
Yes. Open Edit as text and replace each day with its name in the language you are teaching, such as lundi, mardi and mercredi. Share the link so students can practise at home.
Can I make weekends less likely?
Turn on Use weights in Settings and give Saturday and Sunday a smaller weight, such as 0.5, while the weekdays stay at 1. Their slices shrink and they come up half as often.
