Fortune wheel

What is a fortune wheel?

A fortune wheel is a spinner loaded with short messages instead of names or numbers. Each spin picks one message, a bit like cracking open a fortune cookie. The sixteen fortunes on this wheel are all warm and upbeat. They are for fun, not predictions, and none asks anything more of you than a smile.

Is this the Wheel of Fortune game show?

No. SpinDecide is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Wheel of Fortune television game show or its owners. There are no puzzles, no cash values and nothing to bet here. If you want a wheel that hands out small prizes at a school fair or on a stream, the prize wheel is set up for that.

How can I spin the wheel of fortune online with friends?

Send the share link and everyone can spin their own fortune on their phone. At a party, pass a tablet round the table and have each guest read their fortune aloud. It also makes a gentle breakfast ritual: one spin each before school or work. If you would rather have a wheel that tells you what to do than what might happen, try the what to do wheel.

Ideas for using a fortune wheel

• Classroom mornings. Project the wheel in full screen and spin once as students settle. Ask them to write a sentence about how the fortune could come true today.
• Party favours. Let each guest spin before they leave and copy their fortune onto a card to take home.
• Team meetings. Open a Monday call with a single fortune as a light warm-up.
• Kindness game. Whoever spins has to make the fortune come true for someone else; “Someone is grateful for you” means thanking a person in the room.

Teachers looking for more ways to use a spinner will find them in spinner wheel games for classrooms.

How do I write my own fortunes?

Open Edit as text and write one fortune per line. Short lines read best on the slices: aim for under forty characters, though up to sixty will fit. Good fortunes are specific and kind (“A good book will find you this month”) rather than vague or grand. Steer clear of anything that sounds like a real prediction about health, money or relationships, especially if children will be spinning.

Handing out fortunes at a party and want each one used only once? Tick Remove the winner after each spin and the wheel shrinks as fortunes are given away. To build a birthday version from scratch, with names worked into the messages, follow the custom wheel guide.

Can I make one fortune rarer than the others?

Yes. Add a special fortune such as “Today, you choose dinner”, switch on weights, give it a weight of 1 and give the other sixteen a weight of 3. The special one then lands about once in every 49 spins, which makes it feel like a real treat when it finally turns up.
